P3 - Mr Melville
Mount Stewart Trip
On Friday 20th October P3 visited Mount Stewart as part of their houses and homes topic.
All the children dressed up in Victorian costume and had to walk like young ladies and gentlemen.
We played Victorian games in Lady Mary’s secret garden with hoops, hobby horses and skipping ropes.
Next we got to go inside the house where we learned about Lady Helen and the scullery maid Belle.
We also heard about the ghost Clarissa and explored a secret passage.
In the carriage house we saw the magnificent Londonderry stage coach and got to dress up as foot men.
Finally, we experienced what is was like to be in a Victorian school room with slates to write on, ways to make you sit up straight and even a cane for the teacher.
We were all really glad school is not like this anymore!!!
A fantastic time was had by all and we learned lots too.
