P6D

Welcome to Mrs Lewis' P6L and Mr Donaghy's P6D class website

Players from UMass Lowell (winners of the first ever Friendship Four ice hockey tournament organinsed by the Belfast Giants) met the pupils and give them some ice hockey tips.

Lots of the children will be watching the team play in the 2022 tournament as they were provided with free tickets!

We sang some Belfast songs for them, such as "I'll tell me Ma"

The players from the UMass Lowell identified where they were from on a map and our pupils also pointed out where their own families originated from.

The children were able to ask qustions and find out lot of interesting information about the players

The children were also lucky to be given a demonstration in some Ice Hockey skills, including the slapshot.  The children then got to have a go and scored some great goals!

We loved our residential trip to Ganaway Activity Centre!

We had loads of fun doing all the different activities!

We had fun with symmetry as part of our outdoor learning!

We created maps of the garden of our class novel 'Bub Muldoon'

Our concrete/shape poems based on animals in our local habitat:

We wrote a range of engaging explanation texts. We had to ensure we used the features of explanation texts in our posters.

We imagined life from an insect's point of view and drew a close-up of a flower to see the world from their perspective!

We created a variety of characters based on minibeasts and then described their traits and features

As part of our work on local habitat, we examined the features and functions of different parts of a flower

P.6 Mindfulness

We created artwork in the style of Wassily Kandinsky
